The average number of hours listened to per month per listener has been growing steadily over the past 10 years. That’s according to the latest podcast audience and listener behavior report from Stitcher.
In a nutshell, a listener who consumed an average of 10 hours of podcasts per month in 2010, will consume on average twice as much in 2020. And the upward trend continues into 2021.
Another interesting fact is that the podcast audience (in terms of listening time) is structured in a very specific way. Indeed, more than half of this audience is composed of only 9% of the listeners, who can be qualified as “super listeners”. They consume more than 10 hours of podcasts per week. Conversely, 41% of podcast listeners consume between 1 and 5 hours per week, but this only constitutes 20% of the overall audience.
