Cédric Huraux manages Made in 80 with Laurent Bougie, in the east of France. This French web radio dedicated solely to the music of the ’80s has been structured in recent months. Cédric answered our questions.
Hello, Cedric. Made In 80 was created on Radionomy. How was the switch to Shoutcast at the end of the year?
“The automatic switchover worked perfectly. We got all our music bins and our program back. The radio manager being identical, we have therefore resumed our programs without any interruption for our listeners. The fact that we are present on one of the biggest radio streaming platforms is undoubtedly an asset for our radios. It allows us to reach listeners all over the world.
Has the radio audience grown?
After a considerable amount of referencing work on various directories, the radio stations are now available on the majority of broadcasting portals. Internet Box (Orange, Free, SFR, Bouygues), platforms (Shoutcast, Deezer, Tune-in, Google Play Store, Apple App Store) to name a few and more recently on connected speakers (Google and Amazon). We are therefore closely following the evolution of internet radio and the listening habits of our listeners.
Has Made in 80 evolved a lot lately?
The radio station has recently redesigned its website! A new, more interactive site, with podcasts, artist interviews, and an online shop! Listeners can buy their Made in 80 T-shirt or cap! The listener also now has the possibility to record a voice dedication directly from his PC or smartphone. With the Shoutcast revenues we received recently, we have invested in a new Made in 80 on-air packages with new sung jingles. We have undeniably improved our listening quality.
We’ve increased our rotation to more than 700 titles, and we’ve decided to diversify our program as much as possible, which remains 100% focused on the 80s.
And what do you propose in particular in this period of confinement?
In this period of confinement, we produce live shows every day, and we’ve created several themes for our shows, including “Live 80’s” every Tuesday at 6 pm and every Sunday morning at 10 am, a 100% 80s concert show.
“Yes, we have real fans who listen to Made in 80 almost all the time! We thank them very much.”
